How long has it been since you took a day off? Or half a day? Maybe even a few hours? When did you last take a break?
I know how busy life can be, and I also know how all those different time-consuming commitments rarely work in with our own schedule. So, before we know it, we find ourselves never stopping.
Yep, we’re a 24/7 society.
There have been no shortage of studies showing the benefits of rest and relaxation. We’re not robots after all. No matter how strong we think we are, burning the candle at both ends is inevitably going to end in the same result.
But, we all knew that already.
So, why are we doing this to ourselves?
Think about it. Do we really need to be ‘on’ all the time? Or, do we feel guilty and insecure to the point where we think that we must? Are we afraid that the world will stop spinning without us for a moment?
Well, here’s a little reality check. You will catch up. The world won’t stop spinning but you will catch up to it, and when you’re feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, just think about how much better you’ll perform.
Go on. Do it. Schedule a little time for yourself. Yes, you can do it. I took some time out yesterday for the first time in far too long.
Afterwards, I spent 15 minutes writing this blog post about it. I hope you enjoyed it.
Now, I feel fresher, more focused and more creative. I can feel it now that today is going to be a super productive day.
