I love to keep things simple.
Maybe it’s because I’m a simple person… or maybe it’s simply because I know that it works.
Whether it be in marketing strategy, copywriting, web design, content creation or any situation where an individual is communicating to an audience and hoping to achieve a desired result, I’ve found that by keeping things as simple as possible, they have always been more effective.
The days of showing off just how clever you are and expecting your audience to be impressed by this are long gone, as is communication that’s really just a thinly veiled sales pitch.
Your audience has seen it all before, and quite frankly, they’re probably sick of it.
The basic key to successful communication in this day and age is to understand what your target audience is looking for, and then deliver it in a simple and easy to digest manner.
A really simple rule I like to go by is to always put yourself in the shoes of your audience, and approach things from their perspective first – not yours. That is how you achieve the desired impact.
Short, simple and clear. (just like this blog post)
Keep this in mind next time you sit down to create something brilliant.
